Electro-acupuncture, cupping and moxa
At CompMed our acupuncturists are trained in the use of electro-acupuncture, laser, cupping, auricular acupuncture and moxibustion and will apply these in your session if your condition requires.
Electro-acupuncture is electrical stimulation of acupoints through needles and may have specific effects on pain, relaxation, circulation and muscle that are different from acupuncture.
Low-intensity laser is used to stimulate acupoints for needle phobic patients and children and can also be used over tissue that can't be needled, like open wounds, which may help to accelerate the healing process.
Cupping is used to stimulate blood flow through meridians and clear stagnation that may be causing pain in particular areas.
Auricular acupuncture is when tender or inconsistent points on the ear are located that correspond with the internal organs and meridians affected and a very fine needle is inserted into those points and fixed for a week with a small plaster.
Moxa (pictured) is the use of warming charcoal and herbs on specific points to introduce infra-red heat to your body and help with your healing process.
